About me

I commenced my career working in Big 4 accounting firms providing tax advice to businesses and preparing company, individual, trust and fringe benefits tax returns. I was admitted to practise law in 2010 and since then I have spent the majority of my career, save for a stint at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), working in mid-tier law firms. I joined Wisewould Mahony because I like how genuine the people are and the relaxed atmosphere of the firm.

I practise predominantly in Taxation Law, Trusts Law, Superannuation Law and Commercial Law. I advise on all areas of Taxation Law, Trusts Law and Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) Law and assist small to medium business clients as well as individuals and high net worth family groups (including trustees of trusts and SMSFs) in disputes with state and federal revenue authorities (e.g. the ATO and the Victorian State Revenue Office). I prepare trust deeds, deeds of amendment and make private binding ruling applications to the ATO and to state revenue authorities on behalf of my clients. I also prepare SMSF documentation, including limited recourse borrowing documentation.

My advice to clients is always practical and I take a commercial approach to disputes with the revenue authorities. Having previously worked for the ATO, I understand what antagonises them and also what makes them tick, and I firmly believe that positive engagement with the ATO from the beginning of an administrative process is crucial. The other key ingredient to my success is knowing my client’s goals and business (where applicable), so I can ensure that any advice I provide or settlement I pursue is appropriate to their unique situation.

I am active in the Tax and Superannuation professional community, as a Chartered Tax Adviser member of the Tax Institute and a member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Taxation and Revenue Committee. I am a regular presenter of Continuing Professional Development seminars and am available to present to accounting, financial planner and industry discussion groups.
