About me

I’m Ben. I’m part of the Corporate and Commercial team at Wisewould Mahony. I finished my law degree at the University of Melbourne in 2005 and spent the next decade in the private sector. I joined Wisewould Mahony in 2015 and I love working here. I enjoy strategy, problem solving, and helping people. I get to do them all on a daily basis alongside a talented and supportive firm of lawyers.

I act predominantly for commercial clients in a diverse range of areas including agribusiness, banking, commercial leasing, design and construction, financial services, and software development. It’s important that a commercial lawyer understand their client’s business and roadmap if we’re to provide the right advice and get the best result. Active listening, straight talking, and clear thinking are essential to that process and I try to put them into practice every day.

On my admission to practice my uncle (a retired solicitor) told me his best piece of advice for a solicitor starting out was that you’ll never stop learning. I hope that’s true because it’s the big, new or unusual challenges that make each day interesting. I’m certainly enjoying myself so far.
